"Montage" emphasizes the act of putting two things together while the term "edit" points to act of fragmenting. Films have the capacity to create create connections. Montage creates order, it can transfer us from one room to the other in the blink of an eye, years go by while only a second has passed. All of this seldomly bedazzles us. The lecture will deal with montage's ability to tell stories, to manipulate us as well as to transform the recorded world into a cinematographich poem.
