Media Library

The media library of the Austrian Film Museum is used for documentation and research.  Our collection includes both digital and analogue media formats (DVD, CDR, VCD, VHS).

The video collection contains scans of the Film Museum's film archive holdings, recordings of lectures and events that took place at our venue, the "Invisible Cinema," as well as numerous other film titles. In recent years, the media library has further grown through large donations and purchases and now contains around 17,000 media units covering a total of around 29,000 cinematographic titles from all eras.

The viewing station in the library is available Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m.  The maximum viewing time is four hours.

The station can only be used for study purposes by Film Museum members. A membership card can also be purchased on site. A pre-registration is absolutely necessary for the use of the viewing station.
Please note that ours is a reference collection, meaning none of the materials are available for check out.

A list with all the titles in the video collection can be browsed on the library computer.
Library opening hours: Monday and Wednesday, noon to 6 p.m.
Unfortunately, our viewing station is not available at the moment until further notice.
