In person: Philip Seymour Hoffman

Recording Date: (June 01, 2009)
Original Format: Digital Betacam

Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman's (*1967; †2014) visit in June 2009 is considered one of the highlights in the Film Museum's recent history. The event, which coincided with the Austrian premiere of Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche, New York (2008), was preserved for posterity by a professional television crew. During the discussion that followed the screening, Hoffman spoke at length about the relationship between actors and directors from the privileged perspective of a master of both trades.
