Senso '45
February 1 and 18, 2026
Senso '45 by Tinto Brass (2002) is a free and loose Visconti revision that sticks closer to Camillo Boito's novel, while shifting the plot from 1866 to 1945. We will show a well-preserved print of Senso '45 which we recently acquired as part of a package of Italian films alongside Visconti's Senso: The side-by-side comparison illustrates the different artistic worlds of two master directors as well as the changing times of national film production. (Christoph Huber / Translation: Ted Fendt)
