Attila Boa, 1966 – 2023

Plötzlich warst Du da. Vor langen Jahren an der Bar im Filmmuseum. Das Auffallendste an Dir: Dein wacher Blick, Dein verschmitztes Lachen, Dein hintergründiger Humor und Deine Liebe zum Kino. Die Filme von Michael Glawogger hatten es Dir so angetan, dass Du dafür aus der Schweiz nach Österreich gekommen bist. Kameramann aus Leidenschaft, Autor, Humanist, stets Fragender und Suchender bist Du Zeit Deines Lebens geblieben. Die schönsten Momente sind nicht geplant, das wusstest Du nur zu genau. Ins Gespräch mit Dir vertieft, wollten wir gerade diese Momente für immer festhalten. Jetzt, wo Du nicht mehr da bist, bleibt uns ein fernes Leuchten, an das wir uns erinnern.

"Es sei ein Gefühl", sagtest Du, "wie irrsinnig groß das Leben und wie lächerlich klein der Tod" sei. Dein Tod lässt uns sprachlos zurück.

Suddenly, you were here. Many years ago, at the bar at the Film Museum. The most remarkable thing about you: your wide-awake gaze, your witty laugh, your sophisticated humor, and your love for cinema. You were so taken by Michael Glawogger's films that you had to move from Switzerland to Austria. You remained a passionate cameraman, author, and humanist, always questioning and searching throughout your life. The most beautiful moments are not planned, you knew that perfectly well. We were submerged in conversation with you and wanted to keep those moments forever. Now that you are no longer here, we are left with a distant glow that we will always remember.

"It was a feeling," you said, "how tremendously big life and how ridiculously small death was." Your death leaves us speechless.
