In 2010 Khavn travelled to Cameroon, exploiting the fact that Filipino filmmakers are held in highest regard in this African country thanks to the Filipino soap operas that are immensely popular among the locals. Cameroon Love Letter (For Solo Piano) is a document of this trip, composed to correspond with Khavn's original score for the film, possessing levels of humbleness and understanding that are usually unattainable by European filmmakers on African safaris. Khavn: "Shoot whatever catches your fancy. Death of Michael Jackson in Africa. A thief tries to steal my friend's camera. My friend shouts for help. The thief hides in a manhole. A few minutes later, a zombie hand holding the camera emerges from the manhole. Melancholy blue. When Pangako Sa 'Yo (2000-2002) plays on TV, apartheid stops." (J.M.)
