Jean Rouch's summary of La Glace à trois faces: "Three women love the same man. He doesn't love any of them, only his Bugatti. He gets in his car and drives towards his fate." This subject is translated into a breathtaking cinematic construction – La Glace à trois faces is the culmination of the conception of modern cinema à la Epstein anticipated by Six et demi, onze (1926). The way the man tears along the road is depicted through bold montage and different variations in speed, which stands in stark contrast to the memories of his lovers, who produce three entirely different descriptions of the same person. (C.H.) Sa Tête is the final work of Jean Epstein's experimental period before the synchronised sound and open sea of the Breton films. The story is one of false accusations and damaging rumours: Jean Bonard returns to his native village. Early in the morning, the police arrive to arrest him and accuse him of murdering a banker. (E.C.)
