Digital Formalism: Wolfgang Beilenhoff on "The Eleventh Year" by Dziga Vertov

In the framework of a research project entitled Digital Formalism: The Vienna Vertov Collection, which is being funded over a period of several years by the Vienna Science, Research and Technology Fund (WWTF), presentations for the public are being offered at regular intervals. In these, some of the principal questions involved in the project as well as results so far will be discussed.
 
The first of these presentations will be a lecture by renowned film historian Wolfgang Beilenhoff. His topic will be Dziga Vertov's masterful "film symphony" Odinnadtsatyy (The Eleventh Year) from 1928. The film, which has hitherto been given scant attention by research, will be shown following the lecture. 
 
The partners for "Digital Formalism" are Vienna University's Department of Theater, Film and Media, Vienna Technical University's Institute for Software Technolgy and Interactive Systems, and The Austrian Film Museum.
