The provocative German director Werner Schroeter (*1945; †2010) was present on November 19, 1975 for a heated discussion with the audience following a screening of his highly stylised biographical film Der Tod der Maria Malibran (1971). In the short extract presented here, Schroeter, with typical candor, defends his preference for unconventional narrative structures. Schroeter's later visit to the Film Museum for the Austrian premiere of his film Nel Regno di Napoli on October 7, 1978 is similarly documented and is available in condensed form on DVD. (In German)
