On October 19, 1999, the Film Museum and the Viennale staged a round table discussion focussing on India's most celebrated filmmaker, Satyajit Ray (*1921; †1992), whose films were the subject of that year's joint retrospective. In this clip, critic and historian Philip Kemp, and Ray's son, director Sandip Ray (*1953), pay tribute to Satyajit Ray's wife, Bijoya, whose invaluable contribution to her husband's work included co-financing his debut feature, Pather Panchali (1955).
