In person: Morgan Fisher
Recording Date: (May 10, 2012)
Original Format: HD Video
On May 9 and 10, 2012, the Film Museum dedicated an "In person" program to the American avant-garde filmmaker and artist Morgan Fisher (*1942). For the occasion, the Film Museum commissioned a new version (or, to use its creator's own term, "state") of Fisher's concept film Screening Room (1968/2012), which was also the subject of a lecture given by Fisher prior to the first screening in the program. In this excerpt from a Q&A, Fisher discusses the effect performing in his own work has on his highly conceptual, surgically precise films.
