60th Anniversary of the Austrian Film Museum
It can be assumed that film museums are the secret atlases of feelings from our immediate past and fleeting present. And it can also be assumed that their curators and archivists are working on the little appreciated (re-/de-)construction of a cartography of sensitivity of our increasingly fast-paced world of moving images. Motion pictures and film have existed since barely more than 120 years and their devotee, the Austrian Film Museum, turning 60 in 2024, but it still houses – along with the many other museums in the Fédération Internationale des Archives du Film (FIAF) – large and largely unknown countries full of time-based media.
