The Detective in Film

Age 12 to 14
A classical chacter in cinema history: the detective. But what makes him or her into a detective and which detectives follow which method? Traces are read, an assumption is stated, stories are being reconstructed. In the lecture we will learn that it is no coincidence that cinema had such a keen interest in the detective and his/her work. Rather there is a close relationship between what he or she does and what we experience as an audience. We will get to know a number of cinema detectives ranging from Sherlock Holmes to Emil and will investigate in how far we in the cinema are always already detectives looking for clues.
