Cinema and Light

Age 8 to 12
In cinema light is as important as darkness. When both start to play with each other we can see an image. There is hardly a process in the making of a film that is not influenced by light, may that be the photochemical processes on the filmstrip or the projectionlamp throwing the images onto a screen. Light is also a versatile means to stage a scene, to give it a mood, to create an atmosphere. While exploring its technological and aesthetic importance for the medium of film we will embark on a journey ranging from pre-cinema to the digital present.
