À bout de souffle
Jean-Luc Godard (FR 1960)
On his way from Marseille to Paris small time crook Michel is killing a policeman. Having arrived in Paris he tries to get his hands on some money and to get close to American beauty Patricia. In the end the two of them are fleeing justice and it ends as it has to end. Jean-Luc Godard's feature debut is hard to grasp, a piece between extremes: Search for authenticity on the streets, in bars and apartments of Paris and love letter to the artificiality of cinema including filmic references, dialogues and characters. A classic in the best sense of the word, timeless, heavily influencal and cool as hell.
