Finding Strategies for Passing on Knowledge Across Generations of Audiovisual Archivists

The project "Share that Knowledge! Finding Strategies for Passing on Knowledge Across Generations of Audiovisual Archivists" aims to research and develop strategies and methods of unlocking, articulating and sustaining the knowledge that audiovisual archivists hold about the collections they work with. Through research, presentations and publications, the project will connect existing ideas and foster discussion about the topic of knowledge transfer within the field of audiovisual archiving.

A working group consisting of colleagues from 13 audiovisual archives around the world, will use qualitative research methods to study knowledge transfer within their organizations. They will look at which knowledge is endangered, what the main challenges are in passing on this knowledge, and which methods of sharing knowledge are already being used.

The outcome of the project will be a publication, in which concrete methods and tools for knowledge transfer within audiovisual archives are described. The project will conclude with a symposium, presenting the results of the research.
